Well the word "taste" in a topic as broad as anime entertainment is very subjective. For example, I am not a fan of Ecchi animes but there are ppl who do. So, saying the words "you have shit taste" is pretty much like saying "you like something we dont". As you said, it just boils down to individual preferences. While there are certainly ppl who wont judge you for your preferences, there are also others who try to force their opinions on others, and hence it is those kind of ppl who use those words. Just coz a majority of ppl like something that you dont doesnt mean you got shit taste. Its not necessary for your interests to align with the majority. Because if that was to happen, then entertainment will no longer be entertaining |

| When it comes to anime/manga, it's often just use as a way to insult people who enjoy shows the other does not. It's not a matter whether it's good or not, they just need to delude themselves into believing it is and force their opinion of say shows onto everyone else. Often seen in the so called 'elitist' part of the anime/manga community, and heavily prevalent on this site because of the fact you can easily view anyone's profile. You can see many examples already posted in this topic. |
